"Serve wholeheartedly as if you were serving God and not men." (Ephesians 6:7)
Connecting to God’s Work
This is what we are created to do: ”For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do," Ephesians 2:10.
The real beauty of this third facet of our discipleship process is that it ultimately is a result of facets one and two -- and then creates a desire to go back to the first step again to worship God!
If we have spent time with God in worship and we have spent time connecting to others through God in a small group, it is a natural outpouring of His spirit in our lives that we would enter into His work. Our work for God is clearly laid out -- commanded even -- in Scripture.
- 1 Peter 4:10, "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms."
- Galatians 5:13, "You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love."
- Ephesians 6:7, "Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men...."
- Ephesians 4:16, "From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work."
There are many ministries in which to work and serve at FAC. So while there is a great need and therefore a great need to serve, greater still should be our call from the Holy Spirit to do His work. Again, as Paul says in Ephesians, we are created for this very reason.

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age," Matthew 28:19-20.
