Connecting
The main function of the church is to glorify God through Jesus Christ.
This is what we are made to do. Pascal said, “There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of every man which cannot be filled by any created thing, but only by God, the Creator, made known through Jesus."
I Peter 2:9 says, "You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to
God.…" For what purpose? "That you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."
The main function of the church is worship. It is to glorify God through Jesus Christ. While there are many ways through which we can worship and connect to God, it is through the weekend services that we can worship corporately – as a family. There is power and evidence of the Holy Spirit among us when we gather weekly at the feet of Jesus – connecting to Him.
We believe that true worship means giving glory to God, telling Him what He means to us, and talking to one another about Him. It is also giving God the opportunity to speak to us. One of the greatest privileges and blessings that we have is coming together as a church family and experiencing real corporate worship that connects us with God. When we offer Him our submitted hearts and join with others in worship, we experience a small understanding of what Heaven will be like when we gather around the throne and sing praises to our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Sermons are always based on Biblical Truth. Practical application of the Word of God is emphasized. In addition to our senior pastor, Rev. Marty Berglund, other pastors on our staff share the pulpit approximately half of the time. All of our services have identical content and are designed for sixth graders through adults. Nursery and Kids’ Bible Study for babies through fifth graders are available at all worship services.
The Saturday evening sermon is recorded and used on an alternating basis during one of the Sunday morning services. For that service, only the sermon is on video; the rest of the service is "live."
We have multiple worship teams that serve on a rotating basis. Each team brings its own unique style to the service, which may include drama, video clips, our choir, our dance team, special music, and other special presentations. Some teams feature contemporary choruses; others use traditional hymns or a combination of both. While there is much diversity of expression, the goal is always the same – to lead our church in heartfelt praise and response to our Savior.
