Classes and activities for children, youth, and adults with special needs
(Special Needs Outreach & Witness)
"For I am fearfully and wonderfully made, great are Your works, O Lord!"
Psalm 139:14
The SNOW ministry seeks to encourage disabled persons and their families. We believe that God created them, loves them and has a purpose for their lives. We want to include them in each area of ministry at Fellowship Alliance. God has brought all of us together to build one another up in the love of Jesus Christ. SNOW wants to provide ministry to and for the special needs of our congregation.
ProgramsWe offer a number of programs for individuals with special needs:
- Buddy Program - During the 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning worship service, SNOW provides dedicated, trained volunteers as "buddies" for special needs children or adults who need one-on-one assistance. Buddies remain with these individuals during morning Bible study classes to help them actively participate in the teaching ministries of Fellowship Alliance.
- Buddy Class - For those children who require a small group setting, we provide a self-contained Sunday morning class during the 9:30 a.m. worship service. In this classroom, we use a multi-sensory approach to learning about God's Word and provide behavior plans as necessary.
- Friendship Bible Class - During the 9:30 a.m. worship service, the special needs adults remain in the sanctuary for the praise and worship portion of the service. Following the music, they move to their own classroom for a developmentally appropriate Bible study.
- SNOW Den - Meets on the first and third Friday of each month from 7-9 for special needs individuals ages 17 and up, most are in their 20's. The program features such items as pizza, snacks, Bingo, Mystery Bag Game, and other activities. This past summer included a second annual Beach Day at Camp Ockanickon; October's calendar includes a hayride.
If you would like more information about becoming a volunteer SNOW partner, please visit the SNOW Table in the Welcome Center. We train all volunteers.
